This heirloom Christmas wreath features a needle felted shrew called Basil. Basil wears a jaunty brown flocked top hat on his head. Wrapped around his small neck is a billowing red silk sari ribbon finished with a tiny sprig of holly. Basil is balanced on small wooden skis and over one arm he holds a tiny wicker basket filled with a miniature bottle of red wine. Hanging over his other arm is a string of gold tinsel with two vintage glass baubles. Lying on one of his skis is a tiny red foil Christmas cracker. The wreath is made of willow and is 30cm x 30cm in size. Basil is approximately 14cm in height. The wreath is hung on a luxury double sided burgundy velvet loop. The willow wreath has been embellished with hand made roses, hand sewn and wired ivy leaves, holly leaves, mistletoe, a poppy seed head as well as needle felted acorns, beech nuts and fabric covered buttons. Basil is strung in the centre of the wreath by the velvet ribbon tied in a bow and above him is a small Indian bell. This enables him to swing freely like a mobile or he can be displayed flat against a wall when hung on a hook. There is a Wild & Wool fabric label attached.
