Ruaridh the red squirrel pulled his cosy Harris tweed scarf tight around his shoulders as the chill in the autumn air nipped his whiskers. He ventured far into the ancient Highland forest in search of mushroom treasure for his Winter larder.

This wool sculpture is approximately 21cm in height to the top of Ruaridh's tufty ears and roughly 21cm wide from the edge of the basket to his squirrel tail. Ruariidh has been needle felted firmly for longevity and is made from 100% British wool. His eyes are black glass and he wears a Harris tweed scarf round his neck, fastened by a deep red gingham fabric button and a tiny sprig of handmade heather. His arms, legs and tail have all been made with wire armature which makes them posable. Clutched in Ruaridh's right paw is a small hand painted wicker basket filled with many different coloured mushrooms and hand stitched oak leaves. The mushrooms have been needle felted and stitched into for texture and added colour. The mushrooms and oak leaves have all been wired to make them posable. Ruaridh also grasps a hand stitched oak leaf and needle felted acorn in his left paw. the basket of mushrooms is loose and can be lifted out of his arms and placed beside him. There is a wild & wool fabric label attached to an oak leaf.

Sorry this wool sculpture is not a toy and unsuitable for children under 12, due to possible choking hazards.
