'The Promise' is a piece that reflects the Winter garden and the hope or promise of Spring around the corner. The tiny Jenny wren is one of my favourite birds and the delicate but hardy snowdrop signals the first sign of a change of season coming. The little wren has been needle felted and stitched into with embroidery threads. She is life size at approximately 8cm in length. The wren is perched on a vintage and aged terracotta plant pot. Within the pot are handmade wool felt and painted snowdrops. The stems are wired and covered with green floral tape and felt leaves. The ivy leaves have also been wired, hand coloured and stitched into. Within the pot lies a wet felted pebble which has been sewn into to give the feeling of moss and lichen covering it. Resting against the pebble are two holly leaves with glass bead berries. All the felt leaves have been given a glittered edging to evoke the feeling of a frosty morning. The wool piece stands at approximately 28cm in height and 19cm wide. There is a Wild & Wool fabric label attached to an ivy leaf at the back.
Sorry this wool sculpture is not a toy and unsuitable for children under 12, due to possible choking hazards.
